It also helps decrease the amount of sugar made by the liver and increases the amount of sugar removed by the kidneys. In addition, it helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease by decreasing triglyceride and cholesterol levels. Pioglitazone HCL is typically taken once a day with food and should not be taken with meals that contain a lot of fat or calories.
